OUR TEACHERS

Every lesson at Paradigm is taught by an instructor certified after no fewer than 500 hours of rigorous study and apprenticeship in traditional Pilates. This depth of experience gives them the ability to individually assess every client and offer the appropriate exercise prescription to meet anyone’s specific needs and goals. With careful hands-on guidance throughout the fully-equipped studio, each personalized session is designed to elicit balance of body and mind.

  • As a fitness professional I use the Pilates method, strengthening exercises, stretches, and ELDOA to advocate for health, wellness, and optimal fitness. I work in many locations in the best city on earth, New York, New York! My clients include athletes, individuals who are tight, people dealing with injuries, pain or limitations, and anyone who is looking to improve their body and/or quality of life. I formulate a plan to achieve the goals of each individual physically, mentally, and emotionally, for long lasting results. My aim is to make Pilates, fitness and ELDOA an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. My coaching, teaching and guidance will support your overall wellbeing and help you to find the most dynamic and functional everyday athlete within yourself.

    I completed my Pilates training at Romana's Pilates and began teaching in 2009. I have continued my studies under the tutelage of Kathi Ross-Nash of American Body Tech and completed her Pilates Professional Advanced Teacher Training (PPATT) in 2018. In addition to those primary influential trainings I have since completed the Pilates Program with Equinox's Pilates Training Institute and was once a Teacher Trainer for their program.

    I have completed trainings for ELDOA 1, 2, and 3 starting in 2017. I am due test and complete the ELDOA 4 training to become and ELDOA Trainer in October 2021. I continue my own daily practice and closely study weekly under the tutelage with Ilaria Cavagna.

  • Camilo is a former professional dancer with a BA degree in dance from Laroche University. He studied subjects which included training in movement anatomy, biomechanics, and kinesiology.

    Camilo found Pilates through summer intensive classes while at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York in 2005. He began training with teacher trainer Victoria Torrie-Capan at Pilates on 66. Camilo furthered his Pilates training apprenticing at True Pilates New York under Sari Mejia Santo under the supervision of Cynthia Shipley, Jerome Weinberg and Nancy-Jean McNamara, and was certified through Romana’s Pilates.

    Camilo takes great pride in helping his clients achieve their unique goals. He works with clients to help address individual needs by developing a plan that improves their overall health. Utilizing the various Pilates apparatus in the studio, he is able to create skills that are applicable to everyday life.

  • Jamie discovered the Balanced Body Pilates method in 2012 while studying Industrial Design at Hongik University of Art in Seoul, Korea. Struggling with pain and discomfort from her job, which required prolonged sitting, Jamie found relief and passion in Pilates. She obtained her International Modern Pilates certification and founded her own studio in 2016, running it for over three years in South Korea before immigrating to the United States in 2019.

    Dedicated to continuous learning and improvement, Jamie completed the Romana's Pilates program through 2019-2022 at Lifespan Pilates in New York City under the tutelage of esteemed teachers of teachers such as Cynthia Shipley and Sari Mejia Santo. She is now a fully certified Romana's Lv.5 teacher and she is working as a Teacher Trainer for the Romana’s program at Lifespan Pilates, and she’s also helping many beautiful individuals in different ages, genders and levels with tailored programs and with her warm heart.

    Jamie became a certified Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist in 2024.

    Jamie is a strong advocate for the Romana’s Pilates method, having experienced significant personal change and growth through it. She believes it to be very effective and efficient way to transform the body, fostering confidence and strength that one may not have thought possible.

  • Jon Scott Owen is one of a small force of only 18 Pilates teachers in the world that were hand picked by first generation luminary Jay Grimes to receive certificates in both of his highly selective graduate programs, "The Work" and "Teaching the Work".

    Jon began his journey with Contrology in 2000 studying for a Bachelor of Music in Music Theatre at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory. After moving to NYC and working as an actor he continued to utilize the Pilates method under the watchful eye of Jeanette Palmer. With the Work in his body and unable to keep from sharing it’s benefits, Jon decided to dig deeper and was initially certified to teach by Linda Farrel.

    From there Jon went on to mentor with Patrick Strong protégé, Barbara Hoon. While working by her side he met Ray Kurshals, with whom Jon received an additional teaching certificate through a private, one on one course of study.

    In 2017 Jon was honored by Gratz Industries as a featured teacher in their Equipment Gallery. He can be seen modeling the work throughout the pages of both publications The Red Thread: The Mat, and The Red Thread: The Arm/Baby Chair. He also appears on film at Pilatesology, demonstrating for several superstars of the industry.

    Jon has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to spread the genius of Joseph Pilates across the globe. He has taught at Columbia University Medical Center, The CUNY Graduate Center, Ithaca College, Pilates Challenge and Real Pilates in New York City, Six Degrees in New Jersey, The Pilates School in Massachusetts, Pilates by Norma Jean in Florida, Mind Body & Pilates in Nevada, Pilatesology in California, Gaia Pilates in Italy, Pilatistic in Spain, and Gratz Conferences in both Chicago Illinois, and Valencia Spain.

  • Laura Gunder is a classically trained Pilates instructor based in New York City, where she completed her 500 hours of comprehensive training under the guidance of Jennifer Deluca. Always a student, Laura continues her training and education with Katie Yip. Laura has taught private and group lessons for Equinox, and now works independently.

    Laura’s introduction to Pilates comes from her experience and history as a professional ballet dancer — searching for a complimentary cross-training method to supplement her dancing. Trained in the Balanchine method at the School of American Ballet in NYC, Laura danced professionally with Pacific Northwest Ballet and Kansas City Ballet before transitioning her focus to Pilates education. Laura graduated from the New School with a BA in liberal arts focusing on global studies, sociology, and gender studies.

    Laura is passionate about helping her clients - of all ages and experience levels - deepen their understanding and connection to their bodies and physical selves. Using the classical Pilates method, Laura tailors each session to the body before her, learning as much from them as they do from her.

  • Levi Nordquist is both a patient teacher and a perpetual student. He was first introduced to Pilates in 2010 and completed his original 500hr comprehensive training with Dorothee VandeWalle in Seattle, Washington. After many years of continuing education, he attended and graduated from the 600hr Pilates Professional Advanced Teacher Training.

    As an insatiable nerd, Levi has studied and certified in a diverse spectrum of other movement methods including Yoga, Strength Training, Handstands, Martial Arts, and more. Pilates and anatomical acuity have always been the grounding force as he explores each new modality, as well as a deep thirst for understanding the “why” behind the “what.” He currently continues his academic work at the Institute of Structural Medicine to become a licensed Structural Integrator.

    Levi believes that the vast Pilates repertoire can empower students of all levels. Having studied with numerous brilliant minds, he speaks many different movement languages and can break complex concepts into simple pieces that are easy to recognize.

    When Levi is not teaching, you can find him on the nearest mountain peak contemplating the meaning of life or monkeying around Manhattan searching for the Man with the Yellow Hat.

  • Mia Kathryn Wenger is a New York City based dancer, group fitness instructor, and Pilates instructor who enables others to reach their highest potential through movement and fitness.

    Mia graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in 2020 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, Magna Cum Laude. She started her Pilates career as a Group Fitness Instructor for Equinox, in New York City. She taught mat Pilates and strength classes while still a full-time college student and was one of the youngest instructors at Equinox. She obtained a NCSF Personal Training Certification and 450 hour Classical Comprehensive Pilates Certification from Equinox Pilates Teacher Institute directed by Carrie Samper.

    Mia has continued her Pilates education through hands on and virtual workshops specializing in Scoliosis, Body Inclusivity, and Pre/Post Natal Care.
