Signal Over Noise: Anti‑Burnout Workshop for Fitness Pros with Laura Gunder

Signal Over Noise: Anti‑Burnout Workshop for Fitness Pros with Laura Gunder

A focused 2‑hour, practice‑first workshop that helps fitness instructors and coaches recognize career‑draining patterns, build brief embodiment practices, and implement two high‑impact automations — so they show up calmer, clearer, and more sustainable for clients and for themselves.

You’ll learn how to separate signal (what truly matters for your energy, client results, and business growth) from noise (busywork, comparison, and emotionally draining habits). Through a mix of guided self‑assessment, hands‑on embodiment practices, and step‑by‑step system setup, you’ll leave with concrete tools that reduce daily friction, protect your capacity, and increase presence when it matters most.

Objectives

  1. Recognize patterns: Identify career‑draining thoughts, behaviors, and workflow traps that lead to burnout.

  2. Embodied tools: Learn and practice two brief, studio‑friendly embodiment routines to restore calm and focus between sessions.

  3. System fixes: Implement two high‑impact automations/process changes that free mental energy and reduce daily friction.

Tools of the Trade: Integrating the Apparatus into Individualized Programming with Katie Yip

Tools of the Trade: Integrating the Apparatus into Individualized Programming with Katie Yip

Workshop location: Pilates of Kansas City

The auxiliary apparatus in the Pilates system are designed to provide joint support, enhance proprioception, build strength, and promote smooth, controlled movement — all with the goal of making Matwork more accessible and achievable. Drawing from the principle that structure determines function, we can develop guidelines for exercise selection by examining how an apparatus’s design supports the specific purpose of an exercise. This approach helps us determine which populations each apparatus-exercise pairing best serve, and how they integrate into the broader Pilates methodology.

In this interactive workshop, you will review, refine, and learn fundamental exercises on a variety of equipment, and how each can support an individual’s unique needs. These workshops emphasize active participation, with each student teaching, practicing, and observing exercises on a variety of bodies. We will also cover hands-on cueing and principles of alignment and body placement.

By the end of the weekend, you will walk away with an expanded exercise repertoire, and a clear approach to applying the right tools to the right people — maximizing the impact of the Pilates system for every client.

Come ready to move, learn, connect, and leave feeling more confident and inspired in your teaching!

Assess. Align. Apply. — A Systematic Approach to Pilates Programming with Katie Yip (Seoul Workshop)

Assess. Align. Apply. — A Systematic Approach to Pilates Programming with Katie Yip (Seoul Workshop)

A Pilates workout is fundamentally about quality over quality, and its effectiveness lies in its insistence on correct alignment throughout every movement. When structuring sessions, determining optimal alignment and selecting exercises that support it are essential in providing our system with quality movement information. If we feed the system poor inputs or use ill-suited exercises that compromise alignment, we risk halting progression and reinforcing dysfunction.

In this three day workshop, you will have the opportunity to develop your eye for alignment, learn the skills for accurate assessment, explore principles in exercise selection, and create individualized workouts in real time. By adhering to a clear framework, we can better organize our thinking and build quality Pilates programs that help our clients experience long term progression in the Method.

To maintain the highest quality of hands-on and personalized education, this workshop will have limited enrollment. The goal of this workshop is to provide an interactive, collaborative, and intensive learning experience that blends theory with practical application.

Schedule of Events

Day 1: Personalized sessions: Experience and observe private sessions and participate in small groups apparatus classes.

Day 2: Alignment & assessment: Assess alignment, Powerhouse engagement, and learn what to look for in select Reformer & Mat exercises. We’ll observe a variety of of bodies and determine the best position to help each person find their Powerhouse.

Day 3: Principles in exercise technique and selection: We’ll move around the studio and explore a variety of exercises on the auxiliary apparatus with the focus on developing Powerhouse awareness and strength. Learn how to teach the classical exercises and their variations with clarity, and when to use hands-on techniques that reinforce proper alignment.

Day 4: Program design: Create customized sessions on each other using the knowledge gained from the prior two days. You’ll have the opportunity to teach, receive live feedback, and refine your approach through observation and discussion.

This workshop is ideal for teachers seeking to deepen their expertise and learn how to use the full system to create individualized programs for their clients. Join us for three days of knowledge, connection, and community!

Flexion Fundamentals: Creating the "C-Curve" with Katie Yip

Flexion Fundamentals: Creating the “C-Curve”

The “C-Curve” is a foundational skill in the beginner repertoire. While it is first taught as an external shape, we elevate this concept into an internal “C-Curve” as we advance through the system - seeking to maintain the concept of the “C-Curve” even when our spines are no longer in flexion.

Enhance your teaching skills and deepen your understanding of movement principles and personalized program design in “Flexion Fundamentals: Creating the “C-Curve”. This comprehensive workshop is designed to equip Pilates teachers with the knowledge and techniques needed to improve their clients' spinal movement, flexibility, and strength in the “C-Curve” position.

  • Learn the Paradigm Principles Framework: Learn a step-by-step process of how to create exercise programs tailored towards the individual, enhancing your ability to meet each client's unique goals and needs.

  • Develop Assessment Skills: Gain essential skills for assessing your clients and understanding what to look for in creating their unique “C-Curve.”

  • Identify Movement Dysfunctions: Recognize hallmark traits of common movement dysfunctions, allowing you to address and correct them effectively.

  • Master New (and Old!) Exercises: Learn new exercises throughout the studio specific to creating mobility, stability, motor control, and strength with a focus on achieving the coveted “C-Curve” position.

  • Understand Exercise Selection: Learn the criteria for selecting exercises that best suit a client.

Lower Back Injuries & Application with Katie Yip

Lower Back Injuries & Application with Katie Yip

Lower Back Injuries & Application with Katie Yip

Pilates has often been praised for its rehabilitative benefits, particularly in addressing lower back injuries through its emphasis on “core stability” exercises. While it is beyond our scope to diagnose or treat these issues, we still play a pivotal role in providing movement-based relief to clients by working around their injuries.

As the approach to treatment of low back issues shifts from passive to active methods that prioritize exercise for prevention and treatment, understanding “core stability” principles, vital for lumbar spine stability, is essential. In this workshop you will learn the three subsystems that govern lumbar spine stability and how they work in synchrony to maintain it effectively.

Gain the skills to assess, manage, and safely incorporate exercises for clients dealing with acute or chronic lower back injuries while adhering to the core tenets of the Pilates method. You will explore concepts in movement tolerance, workload tolerance, and understand how to logically progress and scale training to meet the client at their level.

Through interactive sessions, we’ll transition theory into practical application, ensuring immediate takeaways and hands-on experience applying the learned principles.

Join us in this intimate workshop limited to 10 participants to maximize engagement and learning!
